Macassar Ebony Convertible Wand & Coin Box Set with Wormholes
Wormholes?! Yes. This exceptional piece of Macassar Ebony has wonderful figuring, and, wormholes. Highly prized among woodworkers, the tiny holes scattered around the pieces provide extra character, and, make for a good conversation piece.
This set will be kept together. There was enough wood to make this set, and two other wands from it, and, we paid a premium price for it, hence the slightly higher price for the set. Also note that although a Certificate with guarantee is included, this wood cannot be replaced except by something that will probably be totally different, so, you may want to keep this in mind when considering this set.

You may be able to see the wormholes here and there. They are very small. On the bottom edge of the coin box lid, what appears to look like a scratch is actually the side of a wormhole.

I've never heard of wormholes in this type of exotic wood, only when I've seen Norm on PBS building replicas of antiques, which, is usually some U.S. domestic species.
